New Blog Bulletins

I was so excited to announce the successful server migration I failed to mention the obvious. The new bulletin system is here and ready to read whenever, wherever. The old style was very manual and limited on number of characters. The new system will allow much enjoyment by all and provide additional information when available. Enjoy.

Server Upgrade Complete

One short Friday night, and one long weekend later and we have an upgraded server ready. The actual upgrade went very smoothly considering, and no major problems cropped up. The only major system affected was webmail and any of you using Thunderbird as your email client.

New plans are also announced with upgraded bits and various other goodies ready for public consumption. The biggest news is Mason 1.35 is running against Apache 2.0 and mod_perl 2, be ready for the API changes because by default Mason is running in CGI mode. The behavior is easy to change but watch out.

In addition MySQL was upgraded from 3.23 to 4.1.20, what a relief. While the older version was certainly very fast, the newer version has plenty of nice features including transactions and nested SQL statements. Make sure indexing is used, otherwise performance will suffer.

Plesk was upgraded from 7.5 to 8.1 and substantial changes in the UI. Much easier navigation, with the additions of shortcuts. More bandwidth and more disk space are also available under every plan. Limits have been increased for eligible plans.

As always enjoy and email with questions/comments,suggestions.
